FAQs
Find answers to common questions about our speech therapy services for children
What is Speech therapy for Children
Speech therapy for children is a specialized form of therapy that helps children develop their communication skills. It is aimed at helping children who have difficulty with speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing.
Can I be present during the speech therapy sessions?
Yes, parents and caregivers are often encouraged to attend the speech therapy sessions to learn strategies and techniques that can be used at home to support the child's progress.
Can speech therapy be covered by health insurance?
It all depends on your health insurance policy. Some insurance companies foot the entire bill for speech therapy, while others may require a co-pay or that you meet a certain deductible before they chip in. Here at our clinic, we accept private health funds, NDIS (Self managed or Plan managed) and Medicare CDM Fund.
Do I need a doctor's referral?
At our clinic, we always prefer when patients come to us with a referral from their doctor. However, if you don't have one, please book an appointment and we'll be happy to discuss your options with you. Our appointments are usually available within a week.
What is a speech sound or articulation disorder?
Speech or articulation disorder refers to difficulty producing speech sounds correctly. This can include difficulty pronouncing certain sounds, such as lisping, or difficulty with sound combinations, such as difficulty saying "r" and "l" sounds. Articulation disorders can be caused by a variety of factors, including developmental delays, hearing loss, or neurological conditions
